Abstract:
In the project, the plan for Year 1 is to create simulation and experimental benchmarks for the accuracy performance of localization in LoRa
and MIOTY. The effort in Year 2 will then be directed to addressing practical challenges of timing and frequency offsets on localization
performance. Within such objective, offset corrections schemes will be proposed and the resultant localization performance will be evaluated.
In Year 3, the project will direct the efforts to investigate interference mitigation schemes since LoRa and MIOTY are expected to be exposed
to inevitable interference from technologies sharing with them the unlicensed ISM band. The project will conclude in Year 3 by incorporating
tracking capabilities to the end-devices and developing an example use case over the test beds.
One of the objectives of this research project is to also replicate the LPWAN testbed of TU Ilmenau at the German University in Cairo with
objective of supporting start-ups and research institutions in Egypt interested in pursuing business and research opportunities in the domain
of LPWAN technology in general and localization of LPWAN devices in specific.
