Abstract:
The project investigates spatial auditory perception of changing room ecoustics in lhe scope of Auditory Augmented Reality (AAR). A position-dynamic binaural synthesis can be utilized to place virtual sound sources in the real room. For this purpose, the synthesis must be adaptable to the real listening room. The mein research question is how closely the real ecouslics needs to be reessemblad in order to avoid k!isturbing effects on lhe unified spatial auditory perception of lhe real room and virtuel objects. For this purpose, we investigate how the change of room acoustic parameters (between rooms end posiltons} affects audilory perception. Our aim is to define iso-perceptive areas within a room. These areas are intended to be used for predicting the audibility of room acoustic changes. The quantitalively detennined thresholds for iso-perceplive areas are e.g. for maintaining the same level of plausibility or lhe meintaining of the same degree of reverberance while avoiding all effects that can reveal a virtual acoustic object es virtual.
